Achim Burkart is a German diplomat. Since July 2020 he is the Consul General of Bangalore, India. Life Burkart studied Law from 1979 to 1987 in Bonn. He graduated the first and second state exam, before he started in Foreign Service in 1992. Following this he worked for 3 years in German Embassy in Cairo. From 1999 to 2002 he was the permanent representative in Hanoi. His next posting was as a permanent representative of OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) in Paris from 2002 to 2006. From 2010 to 2012 he was posted again in Paris as Head of Legal and Consular Section. From July 2016 to July 2020, he was the Ambassador in Lusaka, Zambia. Since July 2020 he has been working as the Consulate General in Bangalore, India. During his numerous local deputations, he has worked not only in the UN Department but also many times in the central department in areas of Personal und Organization, ending as the Head of the Section. Burkart is married and has three children.
