Shaili Chopra


Shaili Chopra is a game-changer in Indian journalism, having brought women's issues to the forefront like none other and creating a groundbreaking digital platform like SheThePeople.TV. She has to her credit key global fellowships like the Draper Hills Fellowship from Stanford University and the Vital Voices Fellowship VV100. Shaili is a recipient of India's biggest journalism award, the Ram Nath Goenka Award for Journalism. She has authored four books and is currently writing her next on women's contribution in economic growth. Social Enterprise Entrepreneur After 18 years in mainstream television journalism, Shaili took the plunge into digital media when few were taking a bet. She created SheThePeople.TV, India's first women-only platform focused on content, community, and skill development. SheThePeople.TV has got an annual digital reach of over 400 million and receives nearly 10 million monthly views across its network. It's a multi-lingual channel in Hindi, English and Bengali. Shaili has led the movement on women's health and fearless conversations on reproductive and sexual rights of women through sister platforms of SheThePeople like Girl Talk focused on questions young women have but don't know who to ask; Period Talk on breaking taboos around menstruation and Doctor Didi, the world’s first multi-lingual mobile messaging chat bot bringing critical conversation on women's periods and sexual health.

Shaili was announced one of India's Top 50 Most Influential Women in Media, Marketing and Advertising by IMPACT Magazine. She is also picked the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Entrepreneur India. Shaili Chopra has moderated many key interviews at the World Economic Forum at Davos and hosted at the India based sessions at WEF Editions. Among her interviews are Warren Buffet, Peter Gabriel, Paulo Coelho, Tiger Woods, Amitabh Bachchan, Indra Nooyi, Ratan Tata, Christine Lagarde to India's top personalities in business, politics, and arts. A familiar television face, she has been one of India's top television editor presenters. She worked at CNBC, India's largest news network NDTV and ETNOW-part of the Times of India Group. Shaili was name India's best reporter in 2007 and later in 2008, her business show Business on Course, won the Best Show Award. Shaili was the first woman to report from the site of India's biggest terror attack at Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. She is the author of the critically acclaimed Big Connect - Politics in the Age of social media; and When I Was 25 a book in which India's top change-agents and leaders share their stories of risk and reward. She also wrote a bestselling book on feminism in the contemporary world titled Feminist Rani. Shaili is in the process of writing her next, Sisterhood Economy by Simon and Schuster out March 2022.
