Nithya J Rao is a Rehabilitation Psychologist, Social Entrepreneur, Global Shaper, Sandboxer and Tedx Speaker. She has worked in the areas of resilience, grief, death and trauma for almost a decade. Her work is influenced by Performing Arts, Indian Philosophy, Coaching and Religious study.
As Co-Founder of Heart It Out, a Mental health and Wellbeing Tech-startup, that has impacted over a million lives she works to bridge the gap between theory and practice of Mental Healthcare in South Asia.
A former Creator of Lahe Lahe, a Performing Arts and Expression Space in Bangalore, she is deeply passionate about a culture that aims towards building inclusive communities. One of the founding members of Katharsis Productions, a theatre production house, she brings diversity, authenticity, and a compassion-centered approach from her roles as an actor, designer, and director.
Recognized by India Today as one of India's Top 25 Entrepreneurs to look out for, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Theatre, Literature & Psychology from Christ University followed by a master's degree in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Counselling from the Richmond Fellowship Society. She has received multiple awards including Best Emerging Startup in the Healthcare Sector in Bangalore as well as the Outstanding Leadership Award in Dubai.
By 2040, she would like to retire with a couple of cats. Until then, she wishes to make a dent on the world, without haste and without pause.
