Claude Smadja created Smadja & Associates, Strategic Advisory, in June 2001. The firm works with global corporations and government entities on global trends and strategic issues, providing its clients with insights and tools that will allow them to develop their anticipation capabilities, connect their strategies and priorities to the “global picture” and to help them to navigate and leverage globalization. In addition to its strategic advisory activities, the firm creates and manages strategic seminars and international conferences in different parts of the world. With offices in Switzerland and in the US, Smadja & Smadja has activities, clients and partners in Asia, North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Before creating Smadja & Smadja, Claude Smadja was the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum from 1995 to 2001. He has been involved with the World Economic Forum altogether for 14 years first as a member of the Executive Board before re-joining the organization as its Managing Director.
Claude Smadja began his career as an international journalist first in the print media and then joining the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation where his last position was as Executive Director for the News and Current Affairs Division.
Claude has forty years of experience in Asia, especially in China. He is a frequent speaker on macroeconomic and geopolitical issues, and especially on issues and trends relating to globalization, on Asia’s issues – especially India and China – and on Europe’s and the US economic and political scene. He serves as Senior International Adviser for Covington & Burling, a US law firm with a global reach, and sits on the boards of international corporations.
